The wonderful time of year in late October when the whole city of Grafton is covered in beautiful purple blossoms and everyone gathers together to celebrate!The city of Grafton in Northern New South Wales is well known for the hundreds of beautiful Jacaranda trees that line the streets and bloom vibrantly each year. Jacaranda season is such a special time of year in Grafton and one that everyone looks forward to. You really have to experience the Jacarandas in full bloom firsthand to fully appreciate just how spectacular a whole city adorned in nature’s pretty purple petals is!

What month do Jacaranda trees bloom?
Jacarandas usually blossom in late Spring from around October to early November each year in the city of Grafton, Northern New South Wales.
How long do Jacarandas bloom for?
Jacaranda trees bloom only for about 2 to 3 weeks each year.
Jacarandas are brilliant street trees, stunning shade trees and they also look magnificent on their own in an open lawn.
They are perfect to sit and contemplate life under and they love getting in photos too!
How many Jacaranda trees are in Grafton?
According to official sources there are 1407 Jacaranda trees in Grafton! We love them so much we planted that many of them (not all at once though)!

Many people think that Jacarandas (Jacaranda mimosifolia) are native to Australia, but they’re actually not. In fact, they are native to Brazil. In the country of Brazil they are deciduous, not because of cold winters, but due to the monsoonal wet and dry seasons.
Are Jacaranda blossoms only purple?
The most common flower colour for Jacarandas is the beautiful purple-blue, however there is also a white-flowered Jacaranda called “White Christmas”. You can find both purple and white Jacaranda trees lining the streets of Grafton.

The Grafton Jacaranda Festival begins each year in late October. The 2020 Grafton Jacaranda Festival will be held from Friday 30th October to Sunday 8th November.
